Paybacks are Hell
Like innocent lemmings, they followed Gertrude Baniszewski into a pitch-black abyss known as evil. They didn’t want to kill Sylvia Likens, they just wanted to torture her daily, and no one knows why.
43 years ago, one of the most perplexing crimes in our nation’s history took place. It is still being talked about today. This event begs the questions why didn’t good win over evil and why didn't anyone try to save Sylvia Likens?
Until now, we have known nothing about Gertrude and Paul Baniszewski after their sentencing in 1966. |

Justice From Within is a collection of memoirs written by a former inmate of the Indiana Women’s Prison during the years of 1966 – 1968. It details some of the daily events that took place at the Indiana Women’s Prison, while it housed the two very infamous criminals, Gertrude and Paula Baniszewski.
The memoirs include conversations between Gertrude Baniszewski and the author. These conversations may further light into the 1965 torture and murder of Sylvia Marie Likens that shook the community of Indianapolis and shocked the rest of the country.
What was Gertrude like in prison, and how did the other inmates treat her? How did Gertrude describe her future to her fellow inmate, and what dark secrets did she share with her? Why did Gertrude act clueless with authorities about the murder, and why did she publicly maintain that she barely even knew “the girl”? Did Gertrude know Sylvia Likens? What made Gertrude freely discuss the murder of Sylvia Likens with one inmate? Was it drugs, alcohol, or a medical condition that drove Gertrude to murder Sylvia Likens? Was Gertrude Baniszewski insane, or an average person? Did Gertrude ever admit to killing Sylvia Likens?
Now you can answer these questions for yourself. |
